The Encyclopedia of Arkansas's 10th Anniversary Celebration

Encyclopedia of Arkansas

Help us celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas (EOA), which debuted on May 2, 2006, as a project of the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies at the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). We will hold a reception in the Butler Center Galleries on the first floor of the Arkansas Studies Institute (ASI) building in downtown Little Rock on Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m. to honor past and present EOA staff; the many authors, reviewers, and other contributors to the EOA; and the project's myriad supporters and well-wishers. At 6 p.m., Butler Center manager David Stricklin and EOA editor Guy Lancaster will make a few remarks, including several big announcements about what is coming up for the EOA. We will enjoy libations, light hors d'oeuvres, and cake.

Spoiler alert: one of the announcements is that a fund created several years ago as an endowment named for EOA founding editor Tom Dillard has reached permanent endowment status. We hope to add $10,000 to the endowment in honor of ten great years.

To make a tax-deductible donation to the endowment, visit, enter required personal information, click "Next Page," select "Tom Dillard EOA Endowment" from the list of options to designate your gift, and follow the remaining prompts to submit. Donation envelopes for cash and checks will also be available at the event.

The public is cordially invited to the anniversary reception. RSVP by Monday, April 25, by emailing or leaving a voicemail at (501) 320-5793. In your message, please indicate the total number of guests attending the event, including yourself.
