Butler Center Offers Genealogy Workshop

Genealogy research can be a rewarding summer project. The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the archival department of the Central Arkansas Library System (CALS), will offer a free, all-day genealogy workshop on Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the CALS Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave. The theater doors will open at 9 a.m. Ketina Taylor, of the National Archives & Records Administration in Fort Worth, Texas, will present four sessions geared to helping genealogists of all levels get more out of their research.

Ketina Taylor holds a master's degree in history from East Tennessee, and she has worked with the National Archives for over 15 years. At the Butler Center's genealogy workshop, Taylor will present the following sessions: "Genealogy 101 at the National Archives," "Military Records at the National Archives," "Native American Records," and "Preserving Your Memories."

The genealogy workshop is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information, visit or call 918-3033.
